Early on, the smartest way to open more packs isn't to spend everything the second you get it. You'll get much more value by clearing the one-time tasks first, especially if you're still building your first proper decks or comparing progress with fresh Pokemon TCG Pocket Accounts before settling into the grind. Beginner Missions and Advanced Missions are the obvious starting point. They don't refresh, which is a shame, but the rewards are strong enough that skipping them just slows you down.
Use Solo battles for steady rewards
Solo mode is where a lot of new players leave free items on the table. The Battle Guides teach the basics, sure, but don't stop as soon as the required lessons are done. Guides 8 through 12 are worth finishing because they hand out useful tools, including items like X Speed and even rental deck access. After that, move through Step-Up Battles in order: Beginner, Intermediate, then Advanced. Expert Solo battles come later, and they're tougher, but first-time clears give Pack Hourglasses. You can also pick up shop tickets by meeting side goals, such as winning without losing points or landing a 100-damage attack.
Rental decks make awkward missions easier
Don't be shy about using Rental Decks. They're there to save you time, especially when a mission asks for something your own card pool can't handle yet. Pulling key cards unlocks decks tied to different packs, such as Charizard ex, Machamp ex, Blaine, Blastoise ex, Pikachu ex, Venusaur ex, Mewtwo ex, Koga, Celebi ex, Gyarados ex, Palkia ex, Dialga ex, Darkrai ex, and others. The Wigglytuff ex deck also comes from clearing the Battle Guides. Each rental deck has limited uses, usually ten, so spend those runs on missions with shop tickets or tricky battle requirements. That's where they pay off best.
Spend shop tickets in the right order
Once you've got tickets, check the shop before blowing them randomly. The monthly refreshed Hourglass offers should usually come first because they disappear. Their rate is worse than the one-time bundles, but missing a reset feels bad later. After those are cleared, go for the permanent deals. Pack Hourglasses matter most if your goal is opening boosters, while Wonder Hourglasses are better when you're chasing a specific missing card from someone else's pack. Daily Missions also matter more than they look. Four Pack Hourglasses a day adds up fast, and the free daily shop gift is worth grabbing even when it seems small.
Know when to stop chasing a pack
At some point, opening the same booster becomes a trap. If you already have two copies of several key cards, each new pack has less chance to improve your decks. Duplicates can still become shinedust, flair, or special tickets, but most players would rather get new cards. That's when Wonder Pick becomes the better tool, especially for Pokémon ex cards you're missing. Pack Points should be saved for painful gaps or cards you truly need right now. If you're done building your main decks, it's fine to hoard resources, and some players even choose to buy Pokemon TCG Pocket Accounts while keeping their own Pack Hourglasses and Poké Gold ready for a future set.
